A Simple Guide to the Fit Out Timeline

One of the biggest sources of stress in a fit out project is not knowing what’s happening or when. A clear timeline makes all the difference. It keeps the project on track and gives you peace of mind.

While every project varies in complexity, here’s what a typical commercial fit out looks like, from the first enquiry to final handover.

1. Discovery and Brief (1–2 weeks)

This is where we learn about your needs and how you work, what you need, and what success looks like.

We’ll talk about:

  • Your team structure and workflow
  • Desired style and finishes
  • Any compliance or sector-specific needs
  • Timelines and budget expectations

2. Design and Costing (2–4 weeks)

We create floor plans, mood boards, and a detailed scope of works. You’ll see:

  • Space plans and 3D visuals
  • Material samples and furniture options
  • A clear, itemised cost breakdown

Once approved, we lock in the programme.

3. Pre-Construction & Procurement (1–2 weeks)

While we finalise compliance and order long-lead items, we also:

  • Schedule deliveries and contractors
  • Coordinate access and site setup
  • Confirm health and safety measures

4. Site Works & Build (4–12 weeks)

This phase includes:

  • Partitioning and flooring
  • Electrical and mechanical installs
  • Decoration and branding
  • Furniture and tech install
  • Final snagging and testing

Duration varies depending on size, access, and complexity.

5. Handover and Aftercare (1 week+)

We don’t just leave when the paint dries. We:

  • Walk you through the completed space
  • Provide O&M manuals and compliance docs
  • Offer aftercare support and post-occupancy tweaks

At Full Circle Workplace, our timelines are realistic, transparent, and always backed by clear communication so you stay informed at every step.
